Only two days left!
With only a couple days left here, we’ve been making sure we do the last week right…skiing and apres’ing to the max! Thankfully, I’m not a big drinker so can go out almost every night and still feel fresh each morning…unlike a lot of people here!
Last week around 30 of us did a sunrise hike up the mountain. We woke up at 3:30am, got a taxi to the next village over and hiked to the top of the mountain. Although only walking up a ‘blue’ slope, it’s fair to say the hike was tough. The slope seems a lot less steep when you’re boarding or skiing down it. It took us just over an hour to get to the top of the mountain. Despite having a lung disease, I wasn’t the last to the top and definitely didn’t struggle the most! However, when we did reach the top it was a white out blizzard, despite weather forecasts saying it would have been perfect blue skies. We waited around for about an hour and a half, with some people leaving earlier as they were fed up of waiting for a sunrise that had already happened behind clouds. The remaining 9 of us eventually started making our way down, which couldn’t have been timed more perfectly. Just as we were skiing down the freshly piste’d slope, the sun started breaking through the clouds, making us feel like we hadn’t completely wasted our early wake up! It was by far the best ski any of us have ever done – first tracks on a fresh piste and an amazing view with the sun just breaking through. Although it may not have been the best sunrise hike, we all had a blast and in the end it was worth it. Plus, it gives us a story to tell!
On a slightly different note, Saracens senior rugby team was here at the start of the week. One friend here is a huge fan girl of them, however everyone was asking for photos with them and they were getting slightly annoyed. Therefore, he decided that if I went with him to take the photos then they wouldn’t say no to a girl. He was right! So now I have photos with some England rugby players…problem is I have no clue who they are! Despite this, the next evening I ended up having drinks with some of them and then going to get pizza with them at 3am! So all in all, a pretty good couple nights out and now I can say I know some England rugby players!
Although, I will be sad to leave here and will miss the people, I’m also super excited about coming home. I can’t wait to get back in the gym, on the climbing wall, on the water sailing and galloping across fields. I also can’t wait to see and have a blast with my siblings again!
